FAQ

How many films does Hollywood make in a given year?

Hollywood studios produce around 3,000 films per year. It's true, there are three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions advertising these films. They spend millions on their production. They also spend millions on marketing them. But how many do you think actually end up getting released into theaters?

The answer is most likely between 200 and 300. The question is, what happens to all the other 2,700+ films? They are either distributed as direct-to–video releases or simply left in storage.

They are not all destined to be overlooked. Some have been chosen for distribution via Netflix or Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus and iTunes, Google Play and other platforms.

Hence, why aren't there more of them? Why aren't they released in theaters? They're too expensive.

If they were more affordable to produce they would be released into theaters.

That's where I come in. I can help guide you in the best way possible to put your movie in theaters.

I'll show how to maximize your return-on-investment (ROI) as well as increase your chances for seeing your movie in theatres.

Let's face the facts...

It can be very difficult to get your film in theaters. It is a complex, long-winded and complicated process that requires a lot of legalities.

It can also come at a high cost before you even begin.

The time frame in which your film can be distributed is also very limited.

There simply isn't enough time between when a film is finished, and its theatrical run begins.

Why is Hollywood calling this Hollywood?

D.W. Griffith founded the first film industry in California in 1887. It was named after its location in Los Angeles, which at the time was known as "Hollywood."

Because it was such a fascinating place, people kept coming back for more. It was a place that people would travel from all walks of the globe to experience.

Hollywood is still an integral part of American culture. We have movies and television shows, music videos, commercials and so on. We call them all "Hollywood."

Why are so few independent films ever distributed?

Indie filmmakers are assuming that distributors will be interested in their films.

They are certain distributors will take their films, as they know that the public will love them.

However, this is rarely the case. Distributors often use independent filmmakers.

They will use techniques such as delaying the release of a movie until after the awards season has ended.

Or they delay the release date of a low-budget film until after the summer blockbuster season has begun.

Distributors try to keep films out of the hands of audiences until they've spent hundreds on tickets, popcorn, and candy.

After all, they don't want to lose out on those profits.

What are the steps to starting my own distribution company

No. No.

You must follow certain rules, even though you are not distributing films of other people.

You can't, for example, charge different prices to different theaters. Also, you cannot charge different fees to different customers.

Your services cannot be sold to any company.

How To

How to get a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce established the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. The HWOF can be found at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. It consists of 2,711 stars embedded into the sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents an individual who contributed to popular culture, such as television, radio or theater. The HWOF currently lists 1,922 people.

You must first submit your name and address to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to become a member of HWOF. The Hollywood Department of Cultural Affairs then submits your information to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you have been approved, you will be given a certificate that shows your name and details, including date of birth, place of residence, occupation, and category. A bronze plaque with your name inscribed on it is also included. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.

A current HWOF member can nominate you for a star or if you have made significant contributions in movies, television or radio. A committee evaluates the nominations and decides whether to approve them. If they decide to approve, they write a letter to the address of the applicant explaining their decision. If the person accepts, they will be sent a second letter to confirm their acceptance. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues an official check payable to Hollywood Chamber of commerce. This check is then sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the artist or organization whose application was accepted. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce pays half of the $12.50 fee to the artist or organization. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

Once an artist has received their star, he/she is eligible to be listed in the HWOF. You must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the balance due to be included on the HWOF. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. You would owe $15,000. If you were first Nominated in 1990, for example. You would be responsible for $10,000 if you had been nominated previously in 1980.

If you want to remove yourself from the HWOF, you need to contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and pay off the remainder of your debt. They will remove you from the list.

What age is required to become a HWOF star?

Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To receive a star, one must be alive at that time. After receiving a stars, one could still be nominated after ten more years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Your family members can nominate you for a star. If there are no known living relatives, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place the memorial marker in front of it.

Why can't people choose to use a different street than having stars all over the place?

The HWOF does not intend to be a historical monument. It is meant to honor those who contributed to film history.

What happened to the stolen stars? The thieves took around 1,200 stars. Each star weighs approximately 250-300 pounds, which equates to 4 tons of stars.
