FAQ
Do foreign sales make Hollywood more than domestic sales?
Yes, but only slightly. 2017 foreign revenue accounted for approximately 17%. 83% of total revenue came from domestic sources.
In fact, more than half the world's people live in overseas markets.
This means that many people, even those who don't watch movies at home, will still want to see yours.
How many movies makes Hollywood each year?
Hollywood studios produce around 3,000 films per year. It's true, there are three thousand!
Hollywood spends billions to advertise for these movies. They spend millions making them. And they spend millions promoting them. But how many end up actually getting seen in the theaters, do you think?
It's probably between 200-300. What happens then to the 2,700+ remaining films? They are either distributed as direct-to–video releases or simply left in storage.
Not all of them will be undiscovered. Some of these have been selected to be distributed via Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu Plus.
Hence why don't more of these films be released? Why aren’t they being shown in theaters instead? They're too costly to produce.
They could also be made cheaper and put into theaters.
Here's where you find me. I will help you find the best possible way to release your film in theaters.
I will teach you how to increase your return on investment (ROI), as well as increasing your chances of seeing the movie in theaters.
We have to face it...
It can be difficult to get your movie into theaters. The process is complex, lengthy and involves many legalities.
It can also come at a high cost before you even begin.
Even worse, your window of opportunity to distribute your film is very limited.
There simply isn't enough time between when a film is finished, and its theatrical run begins.
Who is Hollywood's most recognizable actor?
Tom Hanks holds a record for being the highest paid actor in history. He earns at least $25 million per movie. According to Celebrity Net Worth.
Will Smith is second, having earned $65,000,000 over four years for his contribution to Independence Day.
Tom Cruise comes in third. He made $60 million for Mission Impossible's Ethan Hunt role over five years.
Fourth place goes for Daniel Craig, who was paid $50 million over the course of four years to play James Bond in Skyfall.
Fifth place goes out to Leonardo DiCaprio. He earned $45million over five years for his role in Titanic.
Sixth place goes out to Brad Pitt. He earned $40 million in six years as a result of his portrayal of Steve McQueen's character in 12 Years a Slave.
Robert Downey Jr. is seventh, having earned $35 million over seven decades for his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man/Iron Man in Iron Man.
Johnny Depp, who made $30 million in eight years to play Captain Jack Sparrow's role in Pirates of The Caribbean, takes eighth place.
Ninth place goes to George Clooney, who earned $25 million over nine years for playing Matt Damon's character in Good Night and Good Luck.
Angelina Jolie is ranked 10th. Over 11 years, she earned $20,000,000 for her roles in Mr. & Mrs Smith and Tomb Raider.
What is the difference among a producer or distributor?
The movie is made by a producer. The movie is distributed via a distributor. Distributors, theaters and other companies, such as Netflix, can be sold directly by producers. Distributors purchase movies directly from producers. They then make them available for sale to theaters as well cable channels and streaming services.
Distributors will need to negotiate with theatre owners about the location of their movies. This means that some theaters might charge more money for a certain movie than others. If you want your movie to be seen by as many people as possible, you should choose a distributor with many theaters.
Why is it that so few independent films are ever released?
Indie filmmakers often assume that distributors will pick up their films.
Because they are confident that the public will love their film, they believe distributors would be willing to buy it.
But, it is very rare that this happens. Distributors often benefit from independent filmmakers.
They employ tactics like delaying a movie's release until after awards season has ended.
Or they delay the release date of a low-budget film until after the summer blockbuster season has begun.
Distributors try to keep films out of the hands of audiences until they've spent hundreds on tickets, popcorn, and candy.
After all, they don't want to lose out on those profits.
How much of the box office revenue goes to marketing budgets
Marketing budgets usually account for anywhere from 20%-40% of a film's budget. Because marketing is vital to any film's success,
Without marketing, nobody will know anything about your film. Without knowing about your film, no one wants to pay to see it.

How To
How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It is made up of 2,711 stars that are embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.
To become a member of the HWOF, you must submit your name to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then submits your name to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. After being approved, you will be issued a certificate stating your name, date and place of birth. It also includes information about your occupation, occupation and category. You will also receive a bronze plaque engraved with your name. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.
You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do approve them, they send a note to the home address of the applicant stating their decision. A second letter confirms acceptance if the nominee accepts the nomination. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then charges $25 and forwards the money on to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.
The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the application submitted by the artist or organization. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then pays half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs receives the remaining half.
Once the artist receives his/her star he/she will be eligible to be inducted into the HWOF. To be listed on the HWOF, you must pay the remaining balance owed to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The amount due depends upon how many years ago your first nomination was. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. However, if you had been previously nominated in 1980, you would owe $10,000.
If you want to remove yourself from the HWOF, you need to contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and pay off the remainder of your debt. They will remove your name permanently from the HWOF list.
How old is one to be eligible for a HWOF Star?
To be nominated, one must be at least 18 years. To receive a Star, one must still be living at the time. After receiving a Star, one can still be Nominated for another star after ten Years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
Nominating you can be done by family members. If no relatives are living, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce may place a memorial stone in front of your star.
Why can't we just choose a different street and not have stars all over?
The HWOF doesn't intend to be historical monument. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.
What happened to all the stars stolen? The thieves stole around 1,200 stars. Each star weighs approximately 250-300 pounds, which equates to 4 tons of stars.
