Lou Reed's story of life

Lou Reed's entire life story is complex and intertwined. The first part of his life was an anxiety-ridden teenager, who was resistant to most forms of socialising and often acted out in performative ways. His family continued to be traditional and consult with doctors until they recommended electro-convulsive therapies for him. However, Lou viewed this as torture, and it marked the dividing line in his relationship with his parents.

Chuck Berry's part in rock & roll

Chuck Berry was 17 years old when his life began in the mid-20th century. He became a star at Sumner High School. Despite his initial success federal authorities charged him with violating The Mann Act. He was accused of transporting a minor for immoral reasons. Berry was convicted after two racist trials and sentenced. But, after his release, he began to chart new pop hits. He had taken an interest in rock music, and was greatly influenced by British Invasion artists like the Rolling Stones or the Beatles. After a brief time in prison, his interest in rock music grew and he established a singing band. He remained active all through his life.

Jim Morrison's involvement in rock 'n’ roll

Morrison's role is often seen as symbolic. However, his style of performance and his personal life were the true impact. Morrison was the first to create the archetype for the lead singer, the brooding, sexy poet who drove the girls crazy. With his bare chest adorned with leather jackets, long hair and piercing stare, he was a rock star. Jim Morrison's '60s and '70s style was evident despite not having any formal music training.

Prince's Career

Prince is one the most beloved musical acts of the past quarter-century. He sold more than 100,000,000 records worldwide. Prince is a staple of pop-music's global landscape, either as an individual artist or in a band. His music was influenced, among other artists, by Michael Jackson to Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles. Prince's unique sound was a departure from the music he was influenced by. Prince managed to combine infective Funk, blistering Rock, soulful R&B and melodious Pop. Few artists can do that. Songs like "Purple Rain", "Batman", and other albums became instant hits and helped to create a new generation pop stars.

FAQ

What is the average salary of actors?

Actor pay ranges from $1 million per movie to less than $100,000 for independent films. The average actor receives between $10,000 and $20,000 for a film. Many actors get no pay. It all depends on their success. Some actors are successful and make millions. Others struggle to find work.

Is Hollywood more important than Bollywood?

Film producers face the greatest challenge: how to get their movie noticed by the audience.

Problem is that many movies are competing for people's money and time. It's hard to stand out among the rest and get noticed.

But what makes a movie great? What makes an actor famous or a director? Or a director? Talent is not enough. It also requires luck. It doesn't matter if your actors are the best in the world. But a poor script will make you lose everything.

When it comes to movies, there are two main types. There are big-budget blockbusters as well as small independent productions. Blockbuster movies are expensive to produce and distribute. They are made by huge studios, who want to make sure their movies reach as many people possible. These big-budget movies appeal to older audiences.

Independent films are usually smaller productions that can be funded by investors or individuals. These films often focus on niche markets and cater to specific tastes. These films are typically less expensive to produce and sell. This doesn't necessarily mean they are cheaper to watch. Most indie films are difficult to find.

We need both types? Is it necessary to have both blockbuster and independent movies? Hollywood is much bigger than Bollywood. Hollywood produces more movies than India every year.

Does Hollywood make more money from foreign sales than domestic sales?

Yes, but only slightly. 2017 foreign revenue accounted for approximately 17%. Domestic revenues accounted to 83%.

More than half of the world’s population lives in foreign markets.

This means that people who may never have the chance to see a movie at home might still be curious about your movie.

How much of the box office revenue goes to marketing budgets

Marketing budgets typically account for between 20% and 40% of a film’s budget. This is because marketing is very important to the success of any film.

Without effective marketing, no one will be able to find out about your film. No one will pay for your film if they don't know about it.

Why don’t more filmmakers use crowdfunding platforms like Indiegogo, Kickstarter, and others?

Crowdfunding sites can be great as they let you reach out to potential investors.

Filmmakers don't feel qualified to ask for funds. They feel they must have someone to speak for them.

They don't believe anyone should invest in them, as they have not proven their worth yet.

Instead, they spend months working hard on their project in the hope that someone will notice.

Then, when they launch the campaign, they realize how poorly prepared they were.

They end up with only a few donations, instead of thousands of dollars.

Why is it called Hollywood?

D.W. Griffith created the first movie industry in California in 1887. It was named for its Los Angeles location, also known as Hollywood at that time.

The name stuck because it was such an exciting place for people to visit. People would come from all over just to see what was happening there.

Hollywood is still a big part of our culture. We have movies, television shows, music videos, commercials, etc. They are all called Hollywood.

A current HWOF member can nominate you for a star or if you have made significant contributions in movies, television or radio. A committee reviews all the nominations before deciding whether or not they are approved. If they do approve them, they send a note to the home address of the applicant stating their decision. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then charges $25 and forwards the money on to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.
